@DouglasHamner@ericareport That’s a misleading way to read the change in life expectancy. The shift was actually due to reduced infant mortality. People don’t live that much longer than they used to.
@Johnnyboy747@DrVoetsek This is an old quote. Not my idea. It’s a common way of depicting collaboration that dates back over 25 years. https://t.co/6EYUwPEaQ7
@RRespawned@DrVoetsek I wrote that a year ago. A lot of people have since gotten sick. Some countries implemented lock downs and some did not. The virus did exactly what past plagues have done. Herd immunity has not been reached anywhere on earth that I am aware of. Instead the virus mutated.
As we strive to reduce violence, I often say we are trying to solve an economic problem, not a crime problem.
If we want men to leave the street economy, they must have opportunities in the legal economy.
Thanks so much to all our employers who are hiring! https://t.co/9z1xClz8u6
“English-language learners are severely underrepresented in gifted and talented education programs in the nation's K-12 schools—and the problem may be rooted in the procedures and policies that schools use to identify gifted students.” https://t.co/u0cXVUYGDy
“Denying students of color access to advanced courses, while welcoming their White peers, is an injustice that we have allowed to go on for far too long in this country.“-@kaylamichele26 on new @EdTrust report w/recs for action https://t.co/rBzO4qQSqZ
The Multisite Implementation Evaluation of Tribal #HomeVisiting (MUSE) study has now been approved at all 17 partnering grantee sites! Thanks to the program staff & tribal review entities--we look forward to continued collaboration. https://t.co/inERVqW6i0 @OPRE_ACF@ColoradoSPH
Our partners @firstfiveyears just released their plans to advance #earlylearning in the #2020Elections. We 👏 their efforts of bringing this critical issue in America to the mainstage.
“How you are is just as important as what you do” @jonkorfmacher talking about a home visitor communication toolkit created by the @HV_HARC team! #HVSummit
What role does race play in the systems you are creating? You must answer that hard question and be honest about it. -Womazetta Jones, @RIEOHHS#HVSummit
@colleenawilson @jonkorfmacher @HV_HARC We had some open discussions about being conscientious of the fact that we don’t always recognize how we or the situations we put people in may be perceived. What is comfortable to you might be intimidating to me. I think it’s a critical lesson in our work on engagement.
“If anyone doesn’t truly believe that race is not playing a significant role in this world, then you are operating in a place where you cannot help families” a great quote from Womazetta Jones. She’s inspiring us in how we think about Race in the work we do. @HVsummit@theOunce
“Collaboration is an unnatural act between non-consenting adults.” Yet today we hear from three states that share how they’ve found a way to move past those issues and openly collaborate.
Go Lesley! So proud to see my former colleague sharing the amazing work in Illinois. She embodies the view that children can’t wait. @theOunce@HV_HARC#HVsummit#HOmevisiting
I agree with @lauren_supplee. We focus on the deficits in families, worse yet the inequitable deficits for some groups of families. It doesn’t feel good to be constantly told how bad your life is. Benefit in focusing on the strengths that people, cultures, & communities bring.
