@xuedavis Hey, sorry I dropped off the face of the Earth. I got sick for a few days right after the last tweet series and then soon after that, Twitter shut off third-party clients (which I've always used... I just cannot abide using the official/web client long-term).

@xuedavis 4. Not sure what you mean exactly? 5. Right-clicking the app icon in the Dock should do this, as noted, if I understand you right? 6. You can change this in the system preferences for the Dock. Have a meeting starting shortly, more later!

@xuedavis 3. Activity Monitor should take care of that? To launch it I usually just hit Cmd-Space to activate Spotlight and start typing "Act..." and it pops right up, but of course you can also put it in your Dock or use BetterTouchTool to assign a keyboard shortcut to launch it.

@xuedavis 2. You can sort of do this built-in, by hovering a window's green button and choosing to move it to the L/R of the screen. But I highly recommend getting BetterTouchTool, which will let you do this a better way + SO MUCH MORE. (Yes it's $$ but the best $10-20 you'll ever spend.)

@xuedavis 1. Do you have a trackpad? If so there is a gesture for this, in the trackpad settings in the system preferences, under "More Gestures." Called "Show Desktop." Or you can click on the Finder and hit Cmd-Opt-H to hide all other apps, but I prefer the gesture.

@xuedavis I feel like there are more good freeware solutions on the Mac than on Windows as well, but you might not always know where to find them if you haven’t been in the world long. Let me know what you need an app to fix and I’ll point you in the right direction…

@xuedavis You can also use Command-backtick ( ` , the little guy under the tilde) to cycle through all windows for the frontmost app. And you can minimize windows to the Dock if you don’t need them at the moment, and just click them in the Dock to un-minimize them.

@xuedavis I am late to this thread, but let me know what specific things bug you and I can tell you all the things you probably don’t know that fix them! E.g. if you want to show the open windows for an app like Windows taskbar, just right-click the app’s Dock icon and you’ll see a list.
