Just learned of the plan to remove Abercorn Park. This can’t happen. It’s a park used generally for younger children & mothers, which is safe as it is in view of many houses. There’s very little for young people to do as it is, without removing what little we have.
The SDLP spent their campaign talking about the DUP and Jamie Bryson, as if they thought if they convinced people to not support them they would switch to voting SDLP. Their position on covid mandates is the main reason people dislike them now. Collum needs to go. #bbctalkback
They didn’t acknowledge Covid & now they aren’t acknowledging a disastrous election. Even worse than expected. Still talking about the DUP. I don’t think Doug Beattie needs to resign (collum needed to before the election) but delusional cope is just embarrassing.
Politics & the electorate in this country is so stubborn, & anti democratic tbph. You did your dances, smiley selfies, played on swings and nobody voted for you. But instead of acknowledging it was the wrong approach, you just double down and say you’ll continue what you’re doing
I don’t want to hear any more empty statements of “positive”, or “progressive”, or “change”, or “politics of fear”. You are all yet to explain what you intended to do. I’m so glad I was right and you were all wrong. Toxic positivity boils my blood.
This is why Sinn Fein cleaned up. The rest of you based everything on “not the DUP”, which may encourage people not to vote at all but it certainly won’t inspire anyone to vote for you.
A sales rep once told me the worst salesmen sell their product by talking down their opponent & the best sell their own product as the best. That’s how opposition politics is done in N Ireland, talk down the DUP sure, but what do you bring to the table?
Not them isn’t enough
Being delusional isn’t going to help, it’s just a cope. You’ve made no change whatsoever. This should have been easy but you all made a total balls of it.
The worst thing about all of this is now posh English journalist people are going to be using Northern Ireland for their own political ideology. I’ve read a few hot takes already and I feel really ill
Hopefully there won’t be one, but next election, less selfies, less dancing, less skateboarding, less reaching out primarily to people who won’t vote for you. Don’t define yourself by those who hate you. Actually speak to people, not just your echo chamber. Listen to the public.
North Belfast: Two Sinn Fein, two DUP and one Alliance MLAs elected and SDLP’s Nichola Mallon suffers shock defeat

Both the SDLP & UUP simply can’t just blame the DUP for their terrible election results. They blamed them the whole way through the election campaign and it didn’t fool anyone. Even that TikTok fella up north is trailing behind someone most people couldn’t pick out of a lineup.
Unionism needs to understand you can’t just assume people will vote for you. Look at the pro Union campaign during Brexit, it was horrendous. I would think there would be a much larger turn out for a Border Poll, but why would anyone vote for any of these Unionist Politicians?
Sinn Fein were the only Party in Northern Ireland to reach out to their base. That doesn’t include me, but that’s ok. Unionist politicians spent their campaign taking selfies, talking shit about other Unionists and crying about children damaging their posters.
Didn’t want to put their name up because not about them personally. But I saw this person retweeted quite a lot by Unionist members & politicians. Then they voted for someone with Unionist spelled wrong in their bio, Sinn Fein and God only knows who the other one is. 🙈
