@blakestbanter The benefits of driving up pitch counts for its own sake are pretty negligible. The strategy should be to swing at pitches you can do damage on — if that’s the first pitch, great (although I doubt all these first pitches are middle-middle meatballs)

And purely as a fan, I’d rather watch McCade Brown struggle and maybe figure something out than watch Jeremy Guthrie 2.0

Like I think you’re significantly more likely to end up with a Jeremy Guthrie or Kyle Kendrick in this situation than you are an Aaron Cook or Jorge De La Rosa
