They're not freezing your rent, they're freezing your housing providers' income, while their expenses keep increasing.
The point isn't to make your housing affordable, it's to make providing housing financially inviable, so government(s) can seize the unmanageable properties.
Our lack of financial literacy is going to destroy us.

The $2M ladder truck responds to 3,000 calls/yr while Providence had 90 structure fires in 2025 with 7 ladder companies. So 13 structure fires per station. Meanwhile 2/3 of those are single family homes, not requiring a ladder.
So call it one true “ladder truck” fire every 3 months per truck. Aka 0.13% of all calls this new $2M truck will run. The rest will be 4-man crewed calls operating a ~65,000-75,00lb apparatus for auto accidents, medical emergencies, “good intent” calls and so on. Most of which involve waiting for an ambulance that’s slower to arrive because we just keep buying ladder trucks and don’t have enough ambulances. Yet almost no one finds this cycle problematic.
(Ironically the FD’s chosen photo is the truck posed blocking a highway. No tall buildings in sight)
Elizabeth Warren's net worth is estimated at about $8 million (Quiver Quantitative ~$7.1M in 2025; OpenSecrets/Forbes historical ~$7-12M range from disclosures, books, retirement accounts, and home equity).
Using the same comparison method as the Musk post (median US household income ~$83k), a typical American household would need to work roughly 96 years — or about 35,000 days — to accumulate that level of wealth. Her wealth is well below the $50M+ threshold in the wealth tax she has proposed.
Everyone should read this quote.
America does not *automatically* produce a surfeit of jobs and wealth.
America produces jobs and wealth because our system protects property rights, enforces contracts, and otherwise mostly frees ambitious people to go out and get paid to solve problems for others, which generates wealth for them and for everyone else.
@Austen Who the hell are buying the 10M - 200M 2nd homes, yachts, and jets then?
I’m a capitalist, not a communist, but adjusting tax rates or moderate estate taxes are reasonable positions…
Take the billionaire Taylor swift.
Her recent Era’s tour grossed over $2 billion. The customers are very happy, and most of them would gladly have paid more for their tickets. In the documentary they cover the dancers and some of the crew, who are all shown to be happy with their job, and to highly enjoy the experience. In the end of the tour, she gave out over $100 million in bonuses to everyone who worked on the tour.
In general, if you think its possible to earn $10 million, then its hypothetically possible to scale the same thing up 100x and earn $1 billion.
Thank you to all the voters who turned out to vote against this egregious power grab. The race was much closer than the left expected because Virginians know a 10-1 map is not Virginia. I urge the Virginia Supreme Court to rule against this unconstitutional process that will disenfranchise millions of Virginians.
I love the way this is framed. New congressional districts that would disenfranchise almost half of Virginia GOP voters are designed "to restore fairness in the upcoming elections." Modern American politics is just lies piled upon lies.
What's happening in Virginia should serve as a warning to the rest of the country. Democrats gained power and the first thing they did was invest all their political capital into disenfranchising the conservative voters of their state. This is what the Democrat machine will do to all Americans if given the chance. And it's one of the many reasons I'm running to defeat their loyal soldier Susie Lee.
