Eric Montross was a friend and colleague. He was kind, caring, generous … and funny. My brother once called me from a thrift store in Oakland, telling me he had found an Eric Montross toy for $3 and asking if I wanted it. ”Yes! Of course!” was the reply. (1/3)

One day at the office, I told Eric it was amazing what you could buy for a few bucks and asked him to sign it. He kept that thing for three weeks, saying: “I’m waiting to think of the perfect caption to write.” When it was returned, I saw Big E’s humor coming through. (2/3)
