Today, we’re launching @autoaicam, a camera that builds personal apps for anything you point it at.
How does it work?
- Take a photo
- Auto picks a Frame, a mini-app built and designed by you or our community
- The Frame does something for you: track calories, virtually try on outfits, identify a plant, and much more
How many of you have a camera roll full of photos that are really actions or reminders? Auto turns these photos into something useful.
This is crazy. @IndianaUniv Advanced Visualization Lab turned 203 people into Gaussian Splats and assembled them in SuperSplat. 🧍🚶🧘🧎
Rendered buttery smooth courtesy of the @PlayCanvas Engine.

In two years, the level of detail you can capture in a 3D Gaussian Splat has skyrocketed. In this scene on SuperSplat, I can zoom right in on a certificate and the text is perfectly legible. Imagine where we will be in another 2 years. 🪄
A cat in a splat!
So fuzzy, imagine that! 🐱✨
A swirl, a twirl, of color and fur,
A Gaussian dream - it’s all a soft blur!
Rendered in real time, right where you’re at.
Our in-house artist been making a small diorama scene with pixelated old-school look with mix of modern shaders (post-effects). She looks like Megumin!
Made with @PlayCanvas and WebGL.

The next-gen Gaussian splatting architecture is coming to @playcanvas with powerful new features in development, running in both @WebGL and @WebGPU
SplatTransform 1.5.2 is here! 🚀
Convert your Gaussian Splats to the super-compressed SOGS format for 20x compression on any OS. Spherical harmonics are now supported. No more need for a CUDA GPU! 🎉
Install with:
npm install -g @playcanvas/splat-transform
PlayCanvas Engine v2.10.0 is here 🚀
Brings faster load times and rendering performance for SOGS-based Gaussian Splats ⚡️

3 years ago, I started the process to migrate the @PlayCanvas Engine's Mocha-based unit tests from running in the browser (via Karma) to running in @nodejs. Today, that work is complete with 1,515 unit tests now running in Node.js. 😅
The benefits are:
✅ Tests run over 10x faster
✅ Tests can be debugged easily in VS Code
✅ Tests are now modern ESM-based JS
✅ Tests execute the engine source directly
✅ Almost all of the engine now runs in Node.js
✅ 5 NPM dependencies removed
✅ Test coverage reporting
I guess this is my Christmas gift to the community! 🎁
Completed the generation of all convex/mesh colliders. Loading and generation of the full playable city is super fast 🏙️
- Download size of all resources 3.7MB
- Parsing/creating the city 1.4 sec on mobile
Everything is walkable & drivable! 🚶♂️🚙🧵
