Meteorological observations from our personal weather station, 13:39 to 14:03:

Temperature fell from 28.1°C to 25.0°C as the storm outflow arrived, with gusts to 22 km/h from the east-south-east. Humidity rose from 74% to 85%, and pressure has fallen 2 hPa since noon.

The clouds were a cumulonimbus base, with ragged scud beneath it. The cloud base dropped from about 1,600 metres to about 1,200 metres above sea level, only around 330 metres above the station.

The rain fell on the hills and missed the station. More storms are likely through the afternoon and evening.

Observations from the Mavanalla personal weather station (888 m), 21 October 2026, 6 to 8 AM.

Sunrise was at 6:13 AM.

Until about 7:15 the air was saturated, at 99% humidity, 20.7°C with a dew point of 20.6°C, and calm.

This produced mist and haze at ground level, with an estimated cloud base of around 900 m above sea level, essentially at the surface.

Above it, a thin veil of altostratus or cirrostratus diffused the sun into the glowing amber sky.

By 8 AM it had warmed to 26.3°C and humidity fell to 81%.

The cloud base lifted to an estimated 1,300 m as the mist burned off.

Pressure rose from 1011.9 to 1013.9 hPa.

Implications:

A warm, humid start with abundant moisture. Expect cumulus to build through the day, with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms.
