People don’t wanna give Star Citizen a chance because it doesn’t hold your hand. Requires you to accept that there will be [many] bugs. Forces you to be uncomfortable with the idea of spending HOURS just to learn basic gameplay.

Oh and the ignorance of thinking you have to spend $1000s to play. The game is $45. No sub. That gets you a ship capable of doing everything you need to earn credits in game to buy the $600 ships featured in headlines fed to you by misinformed outlets.

I’ve yet to see a real game reporter or reviewer actually do their due diligence and cover it well or appropriately. It’s disrespectful.

The community is so willing to provide a guided tour yet they’ve never asked.

That ignorance gets in the way of doing actual research providing real information to readers and viewers.

You wanna see Star Citizen, maybe reach out to one of the many talented creators/communities who know a thing or two before writing that “hot” headline about the next $5000 ship in a game “not released yet” to get your quarterly numbers up. Half the games coming out today are marked as early access and take years to finish. Star Citizen happens to be on the cheapest which I know I know doesn’t fit the “narrative”.

Subnautica is an excellent example of this. It took them years to “finish” the first one. And you’d be crazy to think it won’t take years for the second one. Yet look how incredible the current build is.

It’s hypocritical. The poor reporting for SC is plain unjustified and led by one sided outlets too scared to get uncomfortable about video games because it would step on their ego.

Better at sticking to games that are 98% cutscenes and play for you.

Kinda hate these types of posts tbh. No source supplied and no actual announcement from any social media accounts to confirrm this. At this point you can guess there wont be a pre-load but lets not pretend its been announced...

IO Interactive confirmed that 007 First Light will not have preload on Steam or Xbox. Only PlayStation players will be able to download the game before launch.

This is probably to avoid leaks and piracy before release. PC preloads can sometimes be datamined or cracked early if files are exposed, so removing preload on Steam lowers that risk.
Xbox was likely included because its system is closer to PC than PlayStation's.

The situation is ironic because early leaks still came from PS5 copies that got out before launch.

They also added Denuvo DRM to Steam some days ago, so they are clearly worried about piracy. Some people with slow internet will have to wait to play it due to this.

IO Interactive has not officially said the decision was due to piracy concerns.
