The UN is playing with fire, and it's time they wake the hell up. The Red Sea and Gulf of Aden are not their playground. These waters belong to real sovereign nations Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and their territorial integrity and sovereignty must be respected, full stop.

Now let's talk about Ethiopia a landlocked country with zero coastline. So why the hell is the UN obsessing over them while completely sidelining Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, and Yemen the very countries that actually border this strategic waterway? Where was their invitation? They should have been the ones sitting at the table, not Ethiopia.

And let me be blunt Ethiopia needs to be stopped by Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Jordan the nations with skin in the game. Not by Western puppeteers pulling strings from thousands of miles away.

I've said it before and I'll say it again the UN and Western countries are holding Ethiopia on an oxygen mask, keeping it artificially alive while the country is clinically dead. Over one million people have been slaughtered in their internal conflicts, and what does the West do? They pretend it's not happening and keep propping them up as their proxy state in the Horn of Africa.

It's disgusting. It's reckless. And it's about time Egypt, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Yemen told the UN and its Western backers to back off and let the real regional powers handle their own damn business.

I am back in Somalia and am horrified by the devastation caused by the prolonged draught that has come on top of many years of violence and displacement.

Both in Jubaland and outside of Mogadishu you see acutely malnourished children and families that fled from their ancestral land when livestock and harvest all died.

Instead of increasing aid, as was always the case in previous times of massive suffering, we see the effects of enormous cuts in aid funding.

Too many organisations have had to cut back, and my NRC colleagues on the ground are completely overstretched and underfunded faced with a massive increase of needs.

We have to get a surge of funding before the devastating El Nino-fueled floods will come towards the end of this year.

We are witnessing the same tragic pattern in Somalia, and the international community has grown weary of subsidizing a man-made crisis. It’s time to stop throwing money at the problem and start enforcing accountability. If the political class can amass vast fortunes, we must ask how they acquired that wealth and use recovered funds to feed the hungry. That is why I am calling on the UK and EU and US governments to aggressively investigate Somali officials with Western citizenship.

This article is lazy propaganda masquerading as analysis. The author clearly had a conclusion first and did research afterward , if he did any research at all.

The Houthis target is Somaliland region not Somalia as a whole. Al-Shabaab,s fight is in Somalia, not Somaliland. Yet the article lazily lumps up them together as if sectarian ideology, geography, and strategic interests don't matter.

Al-shabaab is a Sunni Salafi/Wahaabi unlike Hamas/sunni brotherhood. The Houthis are rooted in Zaydi Shia Islam. These are bitter ideological and political rivals not natural allies.
Syria alone should have been enough to destroy this absurd narrative, there's no love lost between Wahaabi and Shia.

This isn't serious journalism. It's a politically convenient smear job build on shallow research, lazy assumptions, and to some extent selective facts. If the author can't distinguish between these actors, they have no business presenting themselves as an authority on the regional affairs.

That tells everything:
Somaliness is not a passport accident. It is rooted in abtirsi, language, culture, and share history.
