Driving past Genoa, stopped just off the motorway to visit Staglieno Cemetery.
The most incredible @CWGC plots are nestled on terraces on the hills behind a 19th century cemetery. It has now made it into my top ten war graves sites.
First you have to make it up stairs..
Don't we scrub up well? Fabulous day collecting my OBE for services to global commemoration at St James's Palace. Thanks to my family for all your love and support. This recognition is dedicated to all my colleagues @CWGC and those we commemorate. #WeWillRememberThem
A warm welcome from this little fella, think I'll call him Max (if you know you know), in the @CWGC visitor centre in Ieper. Do pop in if you're in town for a friendly chat and a little history of The Menin Gate.
Looking forward to hearing from everyone over the next week. Come & have a chat about how you want to see the experience @CWGC be enhanced. Every opinion & voice makes a real difference. If you can’t come a say hi, do fill out the survey linked below 👇👇👇 Even better, do both.

It’s interesting to read an account Serjeant Harry Jago’s dad wrote after visiting his son’s grave in Bayeux in 1947. His words about the cemetery’s ‘glorious sight’ rang true when I visited in August, almost 80 years later.
📍Bayeux War Cemetery 🇫🇷
One of those killed on the opening day of the Loos battle. I wonder if he was thinking about his little girl he was destined never to see as he went over the top. And for her a life without Dad. The epitaph is very moving. Buried at Vermelles British Cemetery near Loos.
