First, that was not true. Later, even if true, nobody can verify who this is, and even if verified, there will be no 100k. They didn’t randomly start looking in Ukraine mass graves; they knew where to look. They already have evidence; they just need bodies. As for getting to 100k, IPN placed 26 applications for exhumations in 2025 and Ukraine so far allowed 3; all others are “pending.”
Fighting the USSR doesn’t erase Volhynia. The UPA fought the Soviets, but it also carried out the mass murder of tens of thousands of Polish civilians—women, children, and the elderly. The AK was created to fight the German occupation and later resisted Soviet domination as long as it realistically could. There is no moral equivalence between an organization that systematically massacred civilians and one that didn’t make ethnic cleansing its policy.
Let me ask you something. Do you believe both sides are equally guilty in today’s war? Or do you believe Russia was the aggressor and Ukraine is defending itself?
I believe Russia started this war, and Ukraine has the right to defend itself. That doesn’t give Ukraine the right to massacre Russian civilians.
The same principle applies here. The UPA began the mass killing of Polish civilians in Volhynia. The AK fought back, and any crimes committed against Ukrainian civilians should be condemned. But that is not the same as an organized campaign of ethnic cleansing.
You keep bringing up Piłsudski. What exactly did he do? He suppressed the OUN because it carried out terrorist attacks, assassinations, sabotage, and bombings against the Polish state. The 1930 Pacification involved police and military operations, arrests, searches, and destruction of property. It was repressive, and many historians criticize it, but it was not an order to exterminate the Ukrainian civilian population.
Trying to justify the murder of over 100,000 Polish civilians because of events 10–12 years earlier is no different from Russia claiming it invaded Ukraine because of old grievances. Historical grievances do not justify ethnic cleansing. The same moral standard must apply to everyone.
You say modern Ukrainians have nothing to do with crimes committed 80 years ago. I agree. Nobody is born guilty.
But modern Ukrainians are responsible for who they choose to honor today. If the Volhynia massacres were truly a crime, then stop glorifying the people who committed them.
Lviv officials have proposed declaring 2027 the Year of Roman Shukhevych and the UPA. Streets, monuments, commemorations, and state honors for UPA figures continue. At the same time, you’re asking Poles to “move on.”
An apology means nothing if the perpetrators are still celebrated as heroes. You cannot honor the organizers of ethnic cleansing and simultaneously claim to condemn the crime.
So it’s a simple question: Was the murder of over 100,000 Polish civilians a crime, or are the people who led it heroes? It cannot be both.
What do Polish people have to do with a massacre in France just because most are Catholic? Do you feel personally responsible for everything the Russian, Serbian, Greek, Bulgarian, or Moldovan Orthodox Churches ever did? Of course not. Stop deflecting. Just condemn the Volhynia massacres, apologize, and move on.
@mychimz@strykoza_ua@Ostanniy_Cap You’re barking up the wrong tree. I’m Polish and an atheist. I condemn crimes committed by Catholics, Protestants, Orthodox, or anyone else. Religion isn’t the issue. The UPA was a political and military organization that carried out ethnic cleansing. That’s the issue.
@mychimz@strykoza_ua@Ostanniy_Cap Trying to blame Poland for a 16th-century massacre in France is world-class Olympic gymnastics. Just say you can’t bring yourself to condemn the slaughter of innocent civilians and move on . Catholicism is a world religion; the UPA was a 1940s political militant group
@Oleg33661@Ostanniy_Cap Personal insults won’t erase history. Do you condemn the murder of over 100,000 Polish civilians by the UPA, or do you still believe women, children, and infants “deserved it”?
@mychimz@strykoza_ua@Ostanniy_Cap Thank you for proving my point. You don’t condemn the massacre of civilians—you mock it and justify it. That’s exactly why UPA glorification has no place in a civilized Europe.
@Oleg33661@Ostanniy_Cap Is your justification really that OUN members were arrested, deported, or that the 1930 Pacification happened? That’s your excuse for the systematic extermination of civilians?
Give me examples . Not overall .
@Oleg33661@Ostanniy_Cap What “massacres” are you talking about? The Polish state repressed OUN because it was considered a terrorist organization. Arrests, deportations and the 1930 Pacification are historical facts. They are not the same as issuing orders to exterminate entire villages of civilians.
@mychimz@strykoza_ua@Ostanniy_Cap Bombing military targets and cities during a war is not the same as systematically massacring unarmed civilians with axes and pitchforks. Stop trying to justify ethnic cleansing. Civilized people condemn those crimes.
@mychimz@strykoza_ua@Ostanniy_Cap Every occupied nation had collaborators. The difference is that OUN had entire German-sponsored battalions and later the UPA. Show me the Polish equivalent. Facts, not deflection.
@Oleg33661@Ostanniy_Cap Zelensky should get the Order again for his popularization of the Wolyn massacre in the world. Congrats, you shoot yourself in the leg.
@mychimz@strykoza_ua@Ostanniy_Cap Want to see what real collaboration looks like? This is 1941—OUN members serving alongside Nazi Germany in German-sponsored formations and uniforms after the invasion of the USSR. That’s collaboration. A pre-war diplomatic photo isn’t.
@Oleg33661@Ostanniy_Cap Civilized people condemn those crimes. UPA apologists excuse them. The more you glorify and justify the UPA’s atrocities, the further you push yourselves away from Europe and the civilized world.
