when hayao miyazaki said that true love was two people inspiring each other to live...recognizing just how hard living is, putting one foot in front of the other every day, how easy it is to lose our passion for it...... that's the real shit
An emergency notice from Grizzco:
"We're observing some signs indicating an upcoming Big Big Run. Hordes of Salmonids are expected to come ashore on June 19. We appreciate your cooperation to overcome this impending threat."
Uh-oh, time to assemble some friends!
My uncle accidentally became a relationship guru after giving one drunk piece of advice at a barbecue and now thousands of people online think he’s emotionally enlightened.
This man has been divorced three times.
Not tragic divorces either.
Confusing divorces.
One wife left because he bought a jet ski during a financial crisis.
Another left after he got banned from a casino in Tunica for “celebrating too aggressively.”
This is not a wise man.
But at a family barbecue last summer, my cousin was going through a breakup and asked everybody for advice.
Most people said normal things:
“Focus on yourself.”
“Time heals.”
“Communication matters.”
Then my uncle, six beers deep and holding half a hotdog, says:
“If somebody loves you, they’ll make your life quieter, not louder.”
Silence.
Everybody paused.
Because somehow… that was actually profound.
My cousin started crying.
An aunt whispered,
“That’s beautiful.”
Even my uncle looked confused by what came out of his mouth.
Now a normal person would leave it there.
But my younger cousin recorded the moment and uploaded it to TikTok with slow piano music in the background.
Overnight:
2 million views.
The comments were insane.
“This healed me.”
“Who is this wise older gentleman?”
“He speaks like a retired warrior.”
RETIRED FROM WHAT???
BUFFALO WILD WINGS???
Suddenly people wanted more advice.
So my cousin starts posting clips of my uncle talking at random family events.
The thing is, my uncle naturally speaks in exhausted Southern metaphors.
Not intentionally.
That’s just how divorced men over 50 communicate.
So he’d say things like:
“You can’t force peace outta people committed to thunder.”
And people online would LOSE THEIR MINDS.
Whole comment sections analyzing his words like scripture.
One woman wrote:
“This man understands feminine pain.”
He once tried microwaving aluminum foil.
Anyway the account exploded.
Podcasts started reaching out.
A wellness page reposted him with captions like:
“The masculinity we need.”
My uncle fully leaned into it.
Started wearing earth-tone sweaters.
Bought reading glasses with no prescription because they made him “look thoughtful.”
Began ending sentences with long pauses while staring into the distance.
He created a persona.
Then came the live events.
A local bookstore invited him to host a talk called:
“Healing Through Stillness.”
This man does not heal through stillness.
He heals through beer and avoiding phone calls.
But people packed the venue anyway.
Women in flowing cardigans.
Men trying to reconnect with their emotions.
At least four people who definitely own crystals.
My uncle walks onstage looking terrified.
First question:
“How do you recover after betrayal?”
This man takes a long sip of water and says:
“Well… raccoons only fight when there’s food around.”
THE ROOM ERUPTED IN APPLAUSE.
I leaned over to my cousin and whispered:
“What does that even mean?”
My cousin goes:
“I don’t think he knows anymore.”
That’s the scary part.
People started assigning meaning to EVERYTHING he said.
At one point he accidentally forgot a sentence halfway through and muttered:
“Sometimes you just gotta… y’know.”
Someone in the audience wrote it in a notebook.
Then Netflix-level disaster struck.
A major podcast invited him on for a two-hour interview.
Now he had to sustain wisdom conversationally instead of through random one-liners.
The hosts were asking deep questions about emotional vulnerability, childhood trauma, attachment styles…
And you could visibly watch him running out of mystical nonsense in real time.
At one point they asked:
“What do you think is the biggest issue in modern relationships?”
Long pause.
My uncle panics and says:
“People text too close to bedtime.”
Clip went viral instantly.
Thousands of comments:
“He’s right.”
“This changed my perspective.”
“Sleep energy is real.”
SLEEP ENERGY???

@MingxiTzu Drizzle was named because she is brown and white, like chocolate drizzle on an ice cream sundae! It was also drizzling when we picked her up
