My problem with you lot is you don’t read.

The Ballon D’or official page themselves have explained the number 1 criteria is INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES and the winner can be chosen based on that ALONE.

The only reason they’d move to the 2nd criteria is if there was no individual that stood out.

In this case, Kylian Mbappé definitely wins by a landslide. He stood out in EVERY competition he participated in.

•He became the World Cup’s All time Top Scorer.

•He became the player with the most world cup goal contributions in a single tournament.

•He scored the most opening goals in the WC 2026.

•He became the player with the most WC knockout goals in History.

•He became the Frenchman with the Most WC Goals.

•He became the only player in History to win the La Liga, UCL and World Cup Golden Boots in 1 season.

•He became the only player in history to win the La Liga, UCL and World Cup Golden Boot multiple times.

•He became the player with the most away goals scored in a single UCL Campaign.

•He became the first player in history to win 2 World Cup Golden Boots.

•He became the first player in history to win the WC Golden Boot back to back.

•He became France’s All time Top Scorer.

•He became the first player in France’s History to be both All time Top Scorer and All Time Top Assister.

The only reason he wasn’t named best player in those competitions is because they always choose the best player from the team that won. That’s all.

A simple BSc or cybersecurity hacker can never replace what a Computer Engineer from a tier 1/2 college ha become. Don't insult him/her by your half baked assumptions especially if he comes from a poor background.
