On Saturday, April 25, at 11:​49 PM, officers with the Starkville Police Department responded to the area of Maxwell Street near Lummus Drive for a report of a shooting. The victim was flown out of the area for further medical treatment.

Two individuals have been taken into custody. The involved parties knew each other prior to the incident. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. This incident remains under investigation.

The Starkville Police Department would like to thank the Oktibbeha County Sheriff��s Office, Mississippi State University Police Department, Starkville Fire Department, and Pafford EMS for their assistance.
