I might not run our social media currently, but I tell you what, if our team listened as poorly as @Hyundai and @Hyundai_Global there would be some changes, training and more. I do know you can't have growth without engagement. People stop seeing you. Talking to AG today.
@MCHammer my man, been a minute since #140conf in NY. Love your work forever. Can you help me out and amplify my recent posts. I am getting dissed by @Hyundai@Hyundai_Global@HMGnewsroom and would love a hand from the best. They can't touch us. 😉
@mrpotholeuk@Hyundai_Global Well, since Hyundai is global. I thought it was worth reposting. How goes it? And I love your title, "most formidable motorist in Britain" cheers to you, Sir!
Major problem with @Hyundai_UK Tucson. It's been in @VertuMotors at Banbury a week. Still not looked at by dealers. Things keeping going wrong. First charging point needed replacement. Now drive system has major issues. Due to go away soon

‼️MZANSI 🇿🇦we need your please 🙏🏾
So this car below was sold to our client, it was sold to our client by @HyundaiSA@Hyundai_Global the branch is north cliff gauteng. We inspected this car and this car has been in a accident, they say it was never in an accident, its brakes are terrible and spongy they say they replaced them like a month ago, those discs would suck up a whole bucket of water, that brake fluid is the colour of old dirty black oil, the over spray on the car is terrible, the mismatch of colours seems to have been sprayed in the backyard down town Jhb CBD. We also want to see the accident report of this car. You failed to do your due diligence when you purchased it from wherever most probably from a scrapyard.
MORE REASON WHY WE SAY THERE IS MORE REPUTABLE DEALER IN SA🇿🇦
Now @HyundaiSA is this the kind of cars you sell to your clients? Is this the service we must get from you? Why are you refusing to take the car back? Are you sure that we should escalate this case?
We giving you @HyundaiSA 48 hours to resolve this issue, replace this car. Failure to do so we are escalating this matter. @AbsaSouthAfrica@Absa you have financed this terrible car? How was that possible? How are you financing cars that can in danger ⚠️ our people.
South Africa please your comments and advice on this is very welcomed.

Hey @Hyundai - this is what a 2024 Iconic 5 looks like being towed for the 4th time due to the 12V battery going dead for the 4th time.
Filing for the #lemonlaw
Last three times Curry Hyundia did not have a loaner. Please call them to arrange a loaner. This is unacceptable!!!!!
#CustomerServiceFail #customerrights @Ford
Dear @Hyundai
As you may have noticed (from the mountain of towing invoices piling up), my IONIQ 5 has now been towed four times thanks to the mysterious case of the dying 12V battery.
At this point, I’m thinking the car just wants to live at the tow yard. No one has explained what’s actually wrong, unless silence is now considered technical support.
Meanwhile, I'm getting real cozy with the Lemon Law. You’ve probably seen my name pop up more than your CEO's in the Consumer Affairs inbox.
Today, a brand-new Consumer Affairs rep (I’ve lost count—are you handing these jobs out like coupons?) called me. We talked for 20 minutes. She seemed to know everything about my case. And then—get this—she sends a follow-up email to someone named Garnett.
WHO IS GARNETT?! Do I have a twin I never knew about? A secret identity? Please let me know. In the meantime, please do me the courtesy of sending emails to me—Rick. You know, the guy whose car keeps dying.
Thanks for keeping customer service standards somewhere between "nonexistent" and "black hole." Best (begrudgingly), Rick #customerService
#CustomerExperience #CustomerServiceFailDear @Hyundai
For those of you who have been following my 6-month long story/battle with @Hyundai - still no action. Our car is still in the shop with no release date.
If you are considering an IONIQ 5, do a search on ALL the problems.
Hey @Hyundai - it's sad when a 1954 Chevy is more reliable than a 2024 Iconic 5. We had it towed 4 times due to the 12V batter going dead.
I would not trust the Iconic 5 to go to the supermarket, 8 minutes away.
Please DM me so we can the the NY State Lemon Law process going.
Hey @Hyundai - ChatGPT knows more about your cars than the folks at Curry Hyundia in Cortland Manor, NY.
Please DM me to get the Lemon Law process going.
🧠 Why the 12V Battery Keeps Dying in the Ioniq 5
⚡ Unusual 12V Battery Architecture (No Alternator)
EVs like the Ioniq 5 don’t use a traditional alternator to charge the 12V battery.
Instead, they rely on a DC-to-DC converter from the high-voltage (800V) battery to maintain the 12V system.
If the car isn't “awake” (i.e., not in Ready mode or not recently activated), the 12V battery may not recharge even if the main battery is full.
💤 Phantom Drain / Software Bugs
Background systems like telematics, OTA updates, or the BlueLink remote services may not be going to sleep properly.
This causes a parasitic drain, slowly depleting the 12V battery over days — even if the vehicle is parked.
🚫 Poor Battery Management Strategy
The Ioniq 5 doesn’t proactively maintain the 12V battery unless the car is started or charged.
Hyundai added a “12V Battery Reset” button (really a jump-starter from the main battery), which is a band-aid rather than a fix.
Ideally, the car would auto-monitor and top-up the 12V battery when needed — but it doesn’t do this reliably.
📉 Weak or Undersized 12V Battery
The factory-installed 12V battery is often small (low capacity) and lead-acid, not AGM or lithium-based.
It degrades quickly, especially in extreme temperatures, and can’t handle multiple deep discharges.
🔄 Incomplete Software Fixes
Hyundai has issued some software updates, but many owners report they don’t fully resolve the issue.
Inconsistent application of fixes between dealers, or dealers being unaware of the issue, adds to the frustration.
🛠️ Can It Be Fixed?
Firmware Update: Ensure your Ioniq 5 has the latest software — both infotainment and system firmware. Some OTA updates help, but you may need a dealer visit.
Replace 12V Battery: Some owners swap to a higher-quality AGM or LiFePO4 12V battery with better resilience.
Manual Charge Cycles: Regularly plug in the car or press the 12V reset before extended parking.
Disable Bluelink (as a test): Some users claim disabling remote services reduces the phantom drain — not ideal, but useful for troubleshooting.
❓Why Hyundai Hasn't Fully Solved It
It’s a combination of design limitations and software management flaws. Fixing it properly may require:
Redesigning how and when the 12V system charges,
Using smarter sleep/idle management,
Or swapping to a better 12V battery architecture (e.g., integrated lithium backup).
All of this takes time, testing, and money — and since the car still technically functions with a jump, it’s not a top priority for Hyundai unless forced by large-scale complaints.
Would you like steps on how to reduce the battery drain issue in your Ioniq 5?
Hey @Hyundai re my case # 402 479 12. When I worked at Bozell and Jacobs (big ad firm in NYC) in the 1990, we had @Chrysler as a client. I had a sign on my desk: People want to know how much you care before how much you know.
I am getting the feeling, as many folks agree on social, that @Hyundai does not care about its customers.
These photos show my Iconiq 5 being towed due to the 12V batter dying. This has happened 4 times. Curry Hyunida in NY has been zero help. They do not care. At all.

Hey @Hyundai - It's been 10 days since our I5 was towed for the 4th time due to a dead 12V battery.... and no word from Curry Hyundai.
I guess the problem is hard to fix....
Hey
@Hyundai
My case #40247912 story (going on 6 weeks) is getting worse.
The 12V battery is dead again and I had to have the car towed. See the attached photo.
Curry Hyundia said they do not deliver loaners and I have no way to get there.
They also said they would replace the battery. But, that does not solve the problem. I am sure you know this.
Also, the AAA driver (your Roadside assistance) said this is the 10th time he has had to tow an ICONIC V for the same reason.
As I said in my many emails to you, all I want is out of the lease. Now.

Used Cars to Avoid by the year
@Hyundai_Global
Hyundai Tucson ‘17 sucks balls.
Most of their cars prior to ‘17 had major issues and callbacks.
Mine is in a mechanic shop atm because it’s a Hyundai Tucson.
It has had issue day 1, the dealership can’t seem to see a problem
