Mom and baby checking in! I’ve named them Elizabeth Swan and Barbossa. I gotta keep with the Pirates theme. I was concerned about Barbossa’s umbilical cord but Dr B said he looks great! I need to keep an eye out for mastitis on Elizabeth. But so far so good! @Troll_House_Sol

We are home. Mom goat is a bit skittish but that’s understandable. She is small and young and her baby boy is the tiniest kid I’ve ever seen.
I am so happy I was able to negotiate mom being handed over with her baby. Keeping families together, forever is the goal and not always attainable so this is an amazing day for these two.
Boys are basically worthless in the dairy industry. It’s so sad.
Our vet will be out tomorrow evening to give them both a look over. This was a totally unexpected situation as usual with rescue. We are never fully prepared. But thanks to @Troll_House_Sol I had no second thoughts about getting this little guy and in the end his mother too!
They are in a small quarantine area where they can see our other goats but not be in contact with them. Biosecurity is very important.
