Construction is officially underway on Spark Surprise!
In this episode of Mayor’s Minute, I joined Project Manager Samuel Pena to talk about what is coming next. @SparkSurpriseAZ will be a new business development center located behind City Hall, designed to support small businesses, entrepreneurs, and students.
From access to funding and resources to training and speaker series, this space will be a one-stop shop to help businesses start, grow, and succeed.
We are looking forward to opening this summer and cannot wait to see the impact this will have on our community.

It’s time for another Mayor’s Minute!
I'm joined by Arts & Culture Manager Julie Akerly outside The Vista Center for the Arts to talk about the exciting future of performing arts in Surprise.
From a new partnership with Dysart Schools to the upcoming season lineup, there’s a lot to look forward to. Plus, the arts scene in Surprise continues to grow beyond the stage with even more opportunities for residents to get involved and experience creativity in our community.

As Mayor, one of my top priorities is making sure Surprise sets the standard for school safety, and that has been a focus of mine from day one.
This week, we took another step forward by hosting a School Safety Tabletop Exercise at Ottawa University. We brought together leaders from public, private, and charter schools alongside our Police, Fire-Medical, and Emergency Management teams for a focused, hands-on effort to strengthen coordination and preparedness.
This kind of work has a direct impact on our community. It strengthens communication, aligns response strategies, and ensures school leaders have the tools and connections they need to act quickly and effectively.
I appreciate the commitment from everyone who participated. Progress like this only happens through strong partnerships and a shared focus on keeping students safe.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Transportation Master Plan Community Meeting at Asante Library last night!
If you were not able to make it, you can see the presentation boards and provide your thoughts via a survey or mapping activity at https://t.co/Mg3evt5ZOd.
I’m incredibly grateful for the dedication and commitment of first responders. They sacrifice so much in service to our communities and while thank you doesn’t seem to be enough to express my gratitude, I Thank You, nonetheless.
