World Cup fans heading to NY/NJ Stadium for Panama vs. England got a true New York welcome at Penn Station today, where @NYCMayor joined a volunteer shift with the NYC Summer Welcome Corps.
A partnership between @NYCService, NYC Emergency Management, and @newyorkcares, the Welcome Corps deploys New Yorkers across the five boroughs to give directions, point the way to shade and water, support visitors with accessibility needs, and look out for everyone's safety.
This is what it means to welcome the world: neighbors taking care of neighbors and newcomers alike. Together, we're showing up for our city all summer long.

Today I signed an Executive Order for every worker exposed to extreme heat on the job. It requires multilingual heat safety guidance for workers, a review of construction site heat safety practices, and heat illness prevention plans at every mayoral agency.
Extreme heat is a worker safety issue. The workers who build our skyline, staff our airports, stock our warehouses, and deliver our packages, keep this city running.
This executive order will ensure they come home safe at the end of every shift.

What a day at Coney Island. 🧜♀️ The 44th Mermaid Parade brought thousands of sea creatures, floats, and homemade costumes down Surf Avenue and onto the Boardwalk. NYCEM was on the ground with our city partners, helping keep the celebration safe from West 21st all the way to Steeplechase Plaza. Behind every great summer day in NYC is a team making sure it stays that way. Thanks for a safe one, Coney Island.
