So @MunCorpGurugram puts up multiple sign boards telling us where SHALU VERMA lives. Also informs us that she is an “eminent person” and is district co-ordinator for Modi ji’s Mann ki baat.🙄 Thank you @NayabSainiBJP MCG & Haryana Sarkar.🙏 Now can you please fix Gurgaon’s roads?
If I were an IPS officer posted in Delhi, and girls under my watch were staying away from colleges because they didn’t feel safe, I would hang up my uniform out of sheer shame.
Pilots begin flying as risk seekers
The best pilots learn to fly risk averse
BUT
Many pilots take risk aversion outside the flight deck, where risk is necessary
Risk is necessary when standing up for industry standard pay and quality of life
Risk is necessary when a pilot must stand up for unsafe company activity
Risk is necessary to find more ways to contribute to aviation or other passions
Pilots - risk aversion is only beneficial on the flight deck
Risks outside the flight deck will only raise the bar for you and everyone else
A day like today takes me back to some legends I flew with and what made them last through to retirement.
The ones worth remembering always laughed a lot, drank a lot, flirted a lot, played some sport or the other, didn’t bother about sucking up and lived life marching to the beat of their own drum.
Which brings me to the gyan of the day…
“ A man with no vices can have some very irritating virtues”👨🏻✈️

Enough experienced pilots. Not enough visas.
Another air cargo accident. Another round of questions about crew experience at the bottom of the US air freight market.
Here is what nobody wants to say out loud: the thin end of American aviation is short of experienced pilots, while thousands of retired and mid-career captains around the world already hold FAA ATPs and cannot work a single day in a US cockpit.
Not because the FAA says no. Not because they lack hours. Because there is no work visa that fits a pilot.
Captains with decades in command can fly into Los Angeles as passengers, but not as crew.
This is a Congress problem, and it has a Congress fix: a pilot-specific work visa with tough entry standards — verified ATP, a hard hours floor, English Level 6, FAA-supervised line checks — and wage protections so it cannot be used to undercut American crews.
Let unions shape the standards. Let the FAA test the people. But stop pretending a locked door is a safety policy.
If you fly, dispatch, load, or regulate aircraft — share this.
Ask your representative one question: why is experience being turned away at the border?

Tom from my building asked me to meet him at a diner. He said he had news. I assumed someone had died.
Nobody had died. He slid a photograph across the table. An ultrasound. A small ghost in a gray sea.
"We want to ask you something," he said. "We want you to be the godfather."
I have learned to expect strange things in this country. I was not expecting this.
"I have to tell you," I said, "I am not Catholic. I am not your family. We have known each other fourteen months."
"We know."
"There must be a better candidate."
Tom stirred his coffee for a while. "My brother has three kids and a boat payment and he calls me twice a year. You answer every text. You show up when you say you will. When I moved the washer, you brought your own dolly. I made a list of the men I know, and you were at the top of it, and it was not close."
I still do not know what a boat payment is.
I researched the role the way I research everything. It is an old oath. At the baptism, the godfather speaks for the child, who cannot yet speak. And should the worst arrive — should the parents be taken — the godfather steps forward. In my country we would call this a retainer's vow. I have been training for this role my whole life without knowing its name.
At the church, the priest asked if I reject evil.
"I DO," I said.
My voice carried. A baby in the third row woke up. Tom's wife was laughing and crying at the same time, which I am told is common at these events, and which I have chosen to believe.
Afterward, on the church steps, I asked Tom the real question. Why me. There are men who have known him longer, men who share his faith, men who understand boat payments.
He thought about it. "You take everything seriously," he said. "That's the whole job."
I have spent years in this country being too much. Too formal. Too grave. Too careful with small things. I have watched people smile at it, and I have been grateful for the smile, and I have known what the smile meant.
And then a man handed me his daughter — on paper, in a church, against the worst day of his life — because of it.
Her name is June. She cannot speak. For now, I speak for her.
I keep the ultrasound in my wallet. It is a strange photograph. It looks like weather. It is my favorite thing I own.
bhai watching and listening to Rahul Gandhi speaking feels like listening to a sane, educated, rational and sensible person. while watching teleprompter king feels like subscribing to a cult, and not even a posh cult, more like gali ke mohalle wala baba cult
Remember the truck full of stones that appeared near the CJP protest site in Jantar Mantar?
@ImAvdheshkumar traced the vehicle with its registration number. It was not a stray truck: the Delhi Police had seized it four days earlier
