Why are black people who are well-dressed, well-spoken, and doing productive things made fun of in our culture?
I remember this happening all the way back to my middle school and high school days.
I don’t get it.
Michael Irvin says he realized as a rookie his teammates didn’t care whether they won or lost as long as the check cleared, so he snitched on every one of them and got them cut
“I remember that first game, we lost that game. I was literally crying, because I wasn’t losing much and I couldn’t take it. And I got guys, I’ll never forget it, telling me, ‘Come on, rook. This ain’t what we do in the NFL. We’re just gonna pick that check up on Tuesday.’”
“It crushed me. I’d been working my ass off to get here to play with these dudes, and I got dudes saying this to me.”
“The next year, Jimmy Johnson came in… and I was a snitch. I told everybody that touched me, your ass got to go, because we’re not going to get there with that thought.”

Dwyane Wade SHUTS DOWN the narrative of people saying he couldn’t shoot👀
“That wasn’t a game that I played…it wasn’t my responsibility — it was my responsibility to get the 3PT shooters shots…I know me I’m great. If you told me I needed to be great at this then I would be great at that…that wasn’t a game my coaches needed me to play — they needed me on the attack downhill putting pressure on the rim…I didn’t need it — I averaged 30 without it…”

Norris Cole says getting $50M and two rings is better than $400M and no rings:
“I’m taking $50 million and my rings. You got to remember, for me and what I value, $50 million I can get anything I want. How many Rolls-Royces, how many mansions can you get? And you know in the Midwest a million dollar crib and a million dollar crib in Miami or LA is two different lifestyles.”

Because he did it in the easiest possible situation for a scorer. As fans, we appreciate struggle and competition like Dirk’s 2011, LeBron 2016, and Kawhi 2019. Those accomplishments feel more meaningful because of the obstacles they overcame.
This is the kind of video Gen-Z needs to make more of! Let’s tell the truth about being in your 20s and living as God intended– chaotically! Because that’s a reality for most of us and the over-polished, dark lighting, Dionysus bag life is lived consistently by fewer of us.
The most talented guard I ever played with in high school used to argue with us that Jamal Crawford was the best player in the league (this was like 2010ish). The more insane you are at basketball, the more you are going to value iso moves you can’t do.
The culture of it somehow being bad to show some skill or flair is disgusting.
Makes zero sense.
Hockey has had the same issue for years as well. Then it trickles down to youth, and you got coaches, players, and parents who think it's bad as well.
And then people wonder why it's so hard to create creative and skilled players
