Some news on the debate.

With President Trump visiting Oklahoma on Thursday, October 1, OETA has graciously agreed to pre-tape the debate earlier that day so it can move forward as planned.

It will air Thursday night, October 1, and re-air Saturday, October 3, statewide on OETA.

I want to sincerely thank OETA, the debate organizers and everyone involved for their flexibility. They have put a great deal of time and effort into giving Oklahomans the chance to hear directly from the candidates about the future of our state.

I look forward to sharing my plans to make Oklahoma more affordable by eliminating the state income tax and abolishing property taxes for seniors and veterans, improve education by bringing the Mississippi model here, and protect the Oklahoma values of faith, family and freedom.

I want to be very clear about something.

Oklahoma is not a poor state. It is a poorly managed state.

We have the land, the energy, the people and the work ethic. What we haven't had is somebody in the governor's office reading every line of the budget and demanding results for the taxpayers' money.

That changes in January.

Oklahoma energy doesn't need help. It needs government out of the way.

Remove the unnecessary barriers on our oil and gas industry, and end every taxpayer-funded subsidy that distorts the energy market. That's a day-one priority.

Noel won’t let me leave the house in the morning without praying for me. Then she says, “I love you,” and I tell her, “I love you more.” That’s a pretty good way to start the day.

We had some fun answering questions about life together, including who gets the kids laughing and who’s usually the first to apologize. Noel has a few things to say about both.

You’ll also meet Theo and Ollie. One is named after a president, the other after a Supreme Court justice. Naturally, we needed a separation of powers at home.

Property taxes never stop. You can pay off the mortgage, raise your family, retire... and the bill from the government keeps coming on a home you already own.

For our seniors and our veterans, that's wrong.

I will phase out homestead property taxes for seniors and veterans over 3 to 6 years, without defunding the counties and schools that depend on stable revenue. It's written, it's funded, and it's ready for day one.

Oklahoma is not short on talent, land, energy or work ethic. Nothing about our state's problems is permanent.

The question on the ballot in 44 days is simple: are we being run as well as we could be?

I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Ag Fund.

Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers do more than feed our families. They strengthen our economy, support our rural communities and preserve a way of life worth protecting.

As governor, my priorities for rural Oklahoma include strengthening our beef industry, protecting Oklahoma land from foreign ownership, eliminating the state income tax, and ending property taxes for seniors and veterans.

Met with the people building Oklahoma City this afternoon: the developers putting up the housing, offices and projects that bring companies here. What I told them: a state with no income tax, a predictable regulatory climate and a governor who returns the call is how you win the next twenty years of investment. What I heard back: keep going.
