There are good people in the world. Saints. This gentleman was one of them.
His pen name was Janusz Korczak; hus given name was Henryk Goldszmit. He was a Polish Jew, a pediatrician, educator, author, child rights advocate, and the Principal of an orphanage.
In August 1942, he declined the chance to save himself, refusing to leave the 200 orphans in his charge. He walked with them to the gas chamber at Treblinka.
May Henryk’s memory and the memory of the children with whom he perished forever be a blessing.
Otterly adorable news! Pintar, our four-year-old Asian small-clawed otter, gave birth to a healthy pup on November 18. Pintar and Sebastian are first-time parents and are doing exceptionally well, keeping the fuzzy male pup safe and cozy behind the scenes. Head Veterinarian Dr. Karen Wolf performed a wellness exam on the one-month-old pup, and it appears healthy, weighing just under one pound and exhibiting strong vigor, with a round, healthy belly. We believe the pup is male. His eyes are still closed, which is normal at this stage, and should fully open around day 45. For now, Sebastian, Pintar, and their pup will remain behind the scenes until the pup is older, more mobile, and the weather improves. Stay tuned to our social channels for more behind-the-scenes pupdates!

Rico snacking! Spending most of its time in the canopy, the Brazilian porcupine is an expert climber. Large curved claws, bare soles and a prehensile tail help the large rodent grip branches as it moves through the trees.

Ellie the opossum using a specially designed cart for education programs! Ellie is training to become an ambassador animal so that she can participate in programs and educate people about the importance of local wildlife.
We need your voice for wildlife! A new proposal would eliminate the Endangered Species Act “blanket rule,” which provides automatic safeguards for newly listed species. Without it, animals could lose essential protection when they need it most. https://t.co/rP80yTCUUS
