Hydrated (thanks to @ACLClassics swag), caffeinated (thanks to @camwsclassics swag), and getting ready for another great year of Latin at @mtnbrookhs ! Īte Spartanī! Eāmus!
I really enjoyed this YouTube video about grades and motivation. It is based on lots of research, and is full of great food for thought. What do you think about it?

Struggling to come up with a way to summarise my day in Pompeii without dry cliches about time-capsules, jaw dropping, and hyperbolic superlatives (it was all of these).
So instead a thread grouping together some of the best parts which stood out (and wowza, what a place) 🧵
I’m really glad I got to go to the @ACLClassics Institute this year! I met so many great teachers and got to attend some amazing sessions and workshops.
We used the Suburani books this past year at Mountain Brook, and we’ve really enjoyed it. The stories are engaging for students, and the digital supports are robust and well done.
"A key mission of Suburani is to give students a more accurate experience of life in the Roman Empire, focusing not just on the wealthiest individuals but on people from a full cross-section of society." The challenge of writing a new Latin reading course:

Couldn't get a great angle, but for #MosaicMonday, a mosaic from the visit to the western archaeological area in #Kos yesterday, depicting the Judgement of Paris surrounded by panels of Apollo and the Muses.

From the bath house at @NTChedworth roman villa this mosaic sits on on a hypocaust. The haphazard shapes of the lozenges and the red surround make a uniquely beautiful floor.
