@Littlepeterc I bought several canes there in the 80s before they stopped selling them: traditional crook handle, whangee, and what seemed like a far eastern judicial implement over a metre long. They kept them in a tall basket just behind the door.
@ButtonBooty83 You used a pay phone to call home. If you didn’t have any coins you called the operator (100) and asked to make a “reverse charge call” which your parents would have to accept (or not). Or you might have a code - three rings = come and collect me.
