Curtain Raiser : EBSB I

India’s greatest strength has always been its diverse yet unified cultural heritage—a living legacy shaped by countless traditions, languages, art forms, and communities.

From 08 December, 560 cadets from the North Eastern Region and Uttar Pradesh have come together in the NER EBSB I Camp at Missamari, to celebrate the richness of India’s cultural mosaic.

In a world where nations have faltered when their heritage weakened, this camp stands as a reminder that culture is not just an expression—it is a source of strength, continuity, and resilience.

Today, our cadets stand as custodians of that heritage. Here in Assam—land of ancient traditions, vibrant tribes, classical melodies, and living folklore—we begin a celebration that reinforces who we are and what we stand for.

This camp is more than an event. It is a pledge— to preserve what generations have built, to honour every community that shapes India, to integrate without losing identity and to celebrate our unity through diversity.

[National Cadet Corps @HQ_DG_NCC]

Lt Gen Virendra Vats, YSM, SM, VSM has assumed charge as the 35th Director General of the National Cadet Corps. Commissioned into the 19 KUMAON Regiment of the Indian Army on 17 Dec 1988, the General Officer is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, Defence Services Staff College , Wellington, College of Defence Management, Secunderabad and the National Defence College, New Delhi. He took over the charge of DG NCC from Lt Gen Gurbirpal Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM. #NCCIndia #Leadership
