I always tell my students that details matter. Double check work. My first attempt at this was wrong, because I glanced and assumed that angle A was INSIDE the triangle. Upon second look, I noticed my mistake. Great teaching moment.
Failing out of college at 19 doesn’t make you a failure…it means you weren’t ready for the freedom college gave. Dropping out of college at 23 doesn’t make you a quitter. Finishing college at 34 & 35 is still amazing. Run your own race. #whyiteach
@EDUwithEmily I (a special Ed resource teacher) was observed two weeks ago ON MY PREP PERIOD. Mind you I typically have kids all day anyways, so I had a student I was working with. But tell me why I get observed like a Gen Ed teacher when my job is not the same…
To paraphrase John Hattie, “before the lesson is planned, teacher’s must know what a student already knows and can do. This lets the teacher tailor the lesson and the student can bridge the gap between their current knowledge and the target knowledge.” HB1134 won’t work #hb1134
@Em_Shotwell As a special education teacher, I go out of my way to supply my students with graphic novels and comics! You know why? BECAUSE THE STUDENTS WILL READ THEM! And that’s what matters the most to me.
In Indiana, politicians and parents who still don’t know what they’re feeding their children for dinner tonight are demanding that teachers post what they will be teaching their students 180 days from now.
To anyone who’s season or career ended today. Just know you made someone very proud!! It may not seem like it right now, but trust me you are someone’s super hero🙌🏽
@AdrienneBranden Had to use all my PTO for Covid. I have a surgery next month I will miss time for and no longer have any way to cover the time missed.
The fact that if we get COVID, it comes out of our sick days and we pay for our own sub if we don’t have enough sick days *while still writing the lesson plans* for said sub just doesn’t sit right with me.
Just a reminder…as a teacher I have to use my own sick days for COVID quarantine. It’s bad enough that teachers have to do that, but when I run out of my sick days (due to other health issues this year) I will lose pay for the multiple days I have to stay home. #respectteachers
While it can be very excited to know that winter break is at the end of this week for many teachers, for a lot of kids it can be scary. Changes in routines, concern over where the next meal is coming from, and many hours at home alone can make for long two weeks away from school.
