Our team studies perinatal determinants of female fertility with a focus on the relationship between establishment of ovarian architecture and function.
To my science framily,
As we reflect on this election season, I want to take a moment to acknowledge that things may not have gone as we had hoped or expected. I wish I was shocked that America did not elect its first woman and woman of color to the presidency but I am angry and disappointed. I know times like these can stir a mix of emotions and concerns. I, too, share fears for the future of science, federal support for the marginalized and elderly, and the rights of my family and loved ones.
In moments like this, I am especially grateful for each of you. Your diverse values, perspectives, and individual journeys add incredible strength to our community. Our communities are spaces where everyone’s unique contributions and insights are respected and valued, and I am deeply appreciative of the care, dedication, and vision each of you brings. I see you, I hear you, and I grieve alongside you.
Take a beat to rest and recover and then let’s continue to support one another, stay focused on the meaningful work we’re doing, and foster an environment where everyone feels empowered to thrive. Thank you for being who you are.
Joy comes in the morning, as it always will.
With gratitude,
Donita
