(🧵1/4) Gunnersmate 3rd Class Frank DeVita, a Higgins boat crewmember, was tasked with delivering thousands of troops to the beaches of Normandy. At the young age of 18, Frank witnessed first-hand the tragedies and heroism of war.

(3/4) Earlier this year, Frank DeVita died at the age of 96. Before he died, Frank made it his mission to travel back to Normandy & across the U.S., speaking at schools, including the @USCGAcademy, “so the men in the cemetery would never be forgotten”.
