BREAKING: The Labour Party has said that power-sharing agreements with the Green Party will end unless local Greens explicitly reject their party's "Zionism is racism" policy
The Labour Party has asked all Labour groups in power-sharing agreements with the Green Party to review their arrangements in local government after the prime minister's words at PMQs yesterday.
Bridget Phillipson MP, Chair of the Labour Party, said:
โThe Prime Minister has been completely clear: this policy is wrong and antisemitic, and has no place in British politics.
โWhere local Labour Parties currently have an arrangement with the Greens in local government, we expect their Green counterparts to make clear that they reject this position and to call on their national leadership to reconsider the policy.
โWe have asked local Green groups to respond as a matter of urgency. Where they are unable to provide that assurance, Labour will bring any such local arrangement to an end. This isnโt an issue of party politics; itโs about doing what is right and upholding the values anyone holding public office should share.
โThe Labour Party fought hard to address antisemitism within our own party and ensure it had no place in our politics. We have a responsibility to uphold those same standards in our relationships with other parties.โ

Congratulations to Amber Valley Green Party on electing new councillor Bess Saunders in Kilburn, Denby, Holbrook & Horsley ward in Derbyshire ๐
There is less in-fighting and more respect in the Green Party than any I have known in a long political life. Attacks on us are because our policies are popular. We want: tax the wealthiest; cap rent and build council houses; end fosssil fuel mining, and swift shift to renewables
I have been a Jew for 91 yeqrs, a Green Party activist for 26. The Green Party is not anti-semitic. We are anti-Israel government because they have murdered thousands of children and are killing and destroying homes in the West Bak. We must do all we can to stop them.
Andy Burnham said a few weeks ago:
"A new approach is needed that is less about point-scoring and more about problem-solving."
Backtrack Burnham is at it again!
Andy Burnham rules out any partnership between Labour and the Green Party due to their controversial motion declaring "Zionism is racism".

I remember, not so long ago, Greens got c. 4% in a by-election, and my reaction was โwell, at least it wasnโt totally humiliatingโ. The fact that some people think 33% in a longstanding Labour seat in the middle of the Burnham bounce is bad shows how far the party has come.
We TRIPLED our vote share.
Second best byelection result in Green Party history.
On a date Labour chose to deliberately clash same week as our conference.
All with a brand new PM in previously a "safe" seat.
Best response to absolute nonsense today?

Congratulations to @Sagal_AW. I wish her the very best in representing this amazing place.
I'm proud of the campaign we fought. To go from 10% to 33% of the vote share during the PM's 'bounce' is good - but our ambitions are far higher.
People want real solutions for cost of living, climate action and a party that stands up for justice across the globe.
That's what the Green Party offers.

๐ฏ Burnham and all of us owe huge thanks to @ZackPolanski and Hannah Spencer. Disappointing that some seem to think job over - there is now very little pressure from the left within the Labour party (very few left!) - so we need this from the outside otherwise Labour will revert to the status quo.
I do not believe Labour will introduce proportional representation. And I will not act like they're going to. Ceding Labour leverage and telling everyone that this tiny crumb, this morsel, is a win, is painfully short sighted. Do not let up any pressure whatsoever.

Stephen Morgan voted for Starmer's welfare Bill that tightened access to disability benefits; 49 other, better Labour MPs voted against it.
He also voted to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist group.
