The Marshall County Family Resource Network (FRN), in a partnership with EQT and Marshall County Schools, installed a new Community Blessing Box at McNinch Primary School.
The program operates on a simple principle: “Take what you need, share what you can.”
Marshall County Schools kicked off its 6th annual Career & Technical Education Summer Camp on Tuesday. The nearly 150 students who attended were able to participate in two of the 14 programs offered. Students return this morning for a final day of fun and learning.
The Marshall County Literacy Council has named Brandi Walton, a Reading Specialist at John Marshall High School, the Rita Takach “Reading Teacher of the Year” for 2026.

UPDATE: Cameron High School’s indoor open track is expanding to include every Sunday, Monday and Wednesday, from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm, during June and July. Please enter the back of the school using door 23. Everyone is welcome.

Central Elementary School, John Marshall High School, Moundsville Middle School and Sherrard Middle School have been designated as 2026 WV PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) Tier 1 Model Schools. These schools show improved student outcomes due to PBIS.
The @MCSWV Board of Education announces its federally-funded Summer Food Service Program begins on Tuesday, June 2, 2026. Free breakfast and lunch will be available to all children 18 and younger. Remember, hunger doesn’t take a summer vacation.

Kindergarteners in Ashley Doty's PE class at McNinch Primary School completed their bicycle unit this week and got a surprise visit from the Warlords Motorcycle Club.
Two students, twin brothers Axtyn and Braxly Lucas, were each gifted a new bicycle and a helmet by club members.
Moundsville Middle School Students of the Month for April are Ava Talkington (6), Gage Myers (7) and Luke Colby (8).
These students are of good standing in grades and behavior. They were nominated, and then voted on by the MMS faculty.
The John Marshall Youth Track Meet will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Monarch Stadium, beginning at 9:00 am. The competition is open to all upcoming 1st - 6th graders. Information attached.

The 58th John Marshall High School Commencement Ceremony is tonight, at 7:00, at WesBanco Arena.
For the third year, Moundsville Middle School students teamed up with Grand Vue and AEP to learn how to clean up and take care of their neighborhood parks. Students cleaned bird feeders, weeded sidewalks, filled mulch, cleaned pavilions spaces and scrubbed playground equipment.
On Friday, Hilltop Elementary School’s first grade students participated in a fun and engaging ASL Day focused on learning about communication, inclusion, and American Sign Language. Students practiced basic signs and participated in interactive games and activities.
