For the last 3 mornings (since it got cold 🥶) Drumstick 🍗 of @MD_Chickens has started crowing as soon as I get in the classroom, when I go out to check on her she immediately walks over to her frozen water and pecks it. I top it up, she shuts up.
Who says chickens are stupid?

A huge thank you to SH for the donation of a run so that our ladies can come our for some fresh air, but we can still keep them safe from wild birds.

Loads of fun this morning raising money for @pwhospice with the reindeer run 🏃‍♂️ we did our running, broke out the Christmas tunes and had a bit of a boogie.
Now we have done the hard part it’s time to get that sponsorship in, please sent it into school along with the form 😀

Most of the youngsters now have smart plumage but one still has white down showing. That is VJX- one of the two females.

Super proud of our @MillDamSchool learners who sang their hearts ♥️ out @Ackworth_School to raise awareness and funds to support the people of Ukraine 🇺🇦.

Marshmallow and her chicks are fully integrated with the flock. Competitiveness would normally accompany food but these clips show the flock are comfortable to eat with the chicks, not compete for food.

It was a day of 2 halves yesterday. Beautiful bright sunshine for a while and then dark clouds and rain.
We made the most of the bright sunshine. I never fail to take pleasure from watching them fly onto the @omlet Poletree

It looks as though the male might have fluffed his approach to the box as he came in with a pigeon. As he circled in front of the box, the female decided to collect it.

Longer days and long shadows but I still love to watch them run on grass after so long.

Size differences between male and female chicks should start to become apparent in the next week or so.

There's a very distinct pattern to the post dustbath body shake as demonstrated first by Crumble and then by Custard.

Both start with the main body and then complete with a head and neck twist. Quite balletic in a strange way.
