Moldova is about to take one of the most important steps on its EU path yet.

With President @sandumaiamd, I discussed how Moldova could use the opening of the first negotiation cluster to progress faster towards EU membership.

We also discussed how EU accession reforms and EU investment projects can drive economic growth and deliver for the people of Moldova.

The business case for Moldova is strong and investors are already counting on Moldova’s future inside the EU.

At today’s EU-Moldova investment conference we signed projects worth up to EUR 640m in planned investment.

This will drive economic growth and help create opportunities for young people to build a future at home.

Together with Mariana Gâju, WG Chair, @svenmikser, @Europarl_EN Rapporteur on 🇲🇩, Laura Bretea, Team Leader for 🇲🇩 DG ENEST & Marcel Bobeica, Mayor of Gangura village, had a good exchange on the accession.

🇲🇩 Secretary General of the @GuvernulRMD @AlexeBuzu joined the 3rd @EU_CoR Working Group on 🇲🇩, held on the margins of the CoR’ #EnlargmentDays.

Concept of the voluntary amalgamation of the municipalities & the local public administration reform aspects were discussed.

Τοday the Cyprus Presidency initiated the preparation for the formal opening of Cluster one in the accession negotiations of Ukraine and Moldova.

This marks a significant milestone in their European integration path, and sends a strong message of EU unity and determination.

In the coming days, we will continue working dedicately towards finalizing the discussions in the Council for the formal opening of the cluster.

The Cyprus Presidency, guided by the merit-based approach, is delivering on enlargement, which is a strategic priority and one of the European Union’s most transformative policies.

Prime Minister Magyar’s announcement of the agreement between Hungary and Ukraine to advance minority rights, opens the way for progress on the EU accession path of Ukraine.

This will allow Member States to take forward the work on opening the first negotiation cluster with Ukraine and Moldova.

Ukraine and Moldova are already now delivering on rule of law requirements set by Member States.

It is now time to accelerate on their road to EU membership. This is the best way to ensure minority rights are respected.
