Just realized I haven't posted since 2021! I always used this account for events and social... with the pandemic, there's been a shortage. I'll post more updates soon though! Silent for too long!
One of the awesome things about volunteering with @UpstartED, a student from Ottawa that I spoke with during a Design/Branding workshop just got in touch. Check out what these grade twelve students are doing to improve their community. #periods#Entrepreneur#CommunityEngagement
The stigma regarding menstruation has negative effects on everyone. But women and girls from marginalized backgrounds are disproportionately affected by period poverty. We believe that access to period products is a human right and should be essential for women to thrive.
Thanks to everyone who braved the cold! Keep tuned into the Montreal chapter of @learningcode to find out when we have more workshops. I think there's an HTML/CSS class in the works!
At it again! Tomorrow's big adventure, finding out whether teachers are good students. Having taught ladies, kids, and girls, I'm interested to see if there's any difference teaching educators!
Tomorrow we pilot our first full-day Teachers Learning Code workshop! So excited to learn side-by-side with 20+ teachers and educators from the province led by the wonderful @MDoveDesign at @DistrictMcorp in Montreal!
Can't be more excited #teachersLearningCode#mtl
An #OttawaGameDev spent two years making this beautiful #indieGame that puts me in mind of #monumentValley. Beautiful, peaceful,#puzzleGame. It has an 8/10 rating on steam. Check it out! https://t.co/TyOyBp9KTn
Hey #gamers especially the #montrealGamers. My friend worked on this game for two years and it's got an 8/10 on steam! You should check it out! A game about water, erosion and watching things grow! https://t.co/FNUeMCqUnc
Thank you Nina, for talking to me about women getting #techjobs in montreal in advance of the talk and for your contributions during! You're right, we need to stop feeling the need to prove ourselves! We're capable and hired/interviewed for a reason!
I will catch up on social media tomorrow (had a punk shoe tonight after the talk). For now, just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who attended. Tonight was inspiring and motivational and life confirming. Thanks @Microsoft for hosting #montrealallgirlhacknight
@KariDru W.O. Mitchell. He said something about not having to be the hero of the story and I just couldn't figure out who else you'd let be the protagonist of your life.
Women of Product tonight at @LightspeedHQ is driving a room full of people to drive their careers in #productownership. #wpmtl is amazing. And there's pizza!
Going from waitressing a year ago to now carries a LOT of life-adjustments.
But 3 paychecks in has shown me how 1 of the greatest scams in US is the idea that financial struggle is due to “poor character.”
It’s a huge myth designed to keep people from empowering themselves. /1
Montreal #glcCodeDay was a blast. Thanks to everyone who helped make it happen - our sponsor @SunLifeCA , mentors, lead instructor and many more. Over 30 girls built their first website today and they are just getting started. Code time -> Go time!
