@MelWebster They had an insanely easy schedule where even the good teams they played were playing terrible at the time (ex: Houston). This is nice thing about more even schedule is you play everybody even in NL. No more feasting on a terrible division or terrible NL division that year.
@EliSlovin Id argue that pre-Bird/Magic NBA should be treated same as pre-SB NFL. Championships before happened but don’t carry same relevancy since 1979. Celtics have 5 since that started. I’d say the Celtics have more in common with GB Packers in this comparison.
@burnsieoriginal League isn’t run by organized crime (O6 era) nor awards players based on geography anymore. The vestiges of that system lasted until 89. Montreal has been a dumpster fire since losing that cheat code and Toronto has been a dumpster fire since cheap assed Ballard.
@soIoucity Only context is another pitcher who doesn’t know how to really pitch throwing 98 out of his ass with zero control and getting rewarded until he blows out his elbow and is replaced by the next guy doing the same thing.
@MelWebster It’s his age and frailty and it’s become a fatal flaw of the remaining parts of his generation going into the Boomers. Refusal to step aside when your time has passed. It’s the same for Biden, Trump, McConnell, Finestein, RBG, etc.
@smichaud93@Garitek This is why everybody was flipping out about the officiating in the BC and UNH games. Pairwise most greatly rewards roads wins vs. Top-5/10/15 teams. What also doesn't help is Minn State has had a mediocre year so sweep in Mankato isn't a huge help.
@ShukriWrights Problem is the most knowledgeable hockey guy on WFAN is Boomer. WFAN overnights with Steve Summers use to be the den of hockey talk in NY but it was part real/part sthick. Most hockey podcasts of varying quality and insight took off because of lack of real hockey talk in NY-NJ.
@MaroonMusket 2 things can be true at same time. BC is a very good team (great TBD in NCAAs) & UMass did get screwed over by refs (low/mid sized Fri & WWE levels Sun). Problem is NCAA hockey tourney criteria is based on CPU #’s weighted towards road W’s vs Top 5/10 & W @ BC was huge.
@epeemike81@hockey_east Been watching @hockey_east for 30 years and this has been happening for years. BS calls all game then covering-up stats sheet well after the outcome was already determined.
Have watched @hockey_east for over 30 years. Nothing like terrible officials attempting to “even out” terrible calls by calling penalties after and ENG seals a game.
