Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic Games, says the video game industry is going through its worst crash since the 1980s, with experts now calling the situation โCrash 2.0.โ
Speaking to Edge, Sweeney pointed to two major problems: the huge cost of making AAA games and the growing demand for hardware from AI companies and data centers.
โItโs an unexpected, severe disruption.โ
Sweeney says AI companies and data centers are competing with the entertainment industry for the same components
โSo weโre getting the short end of the stick, and the prices of RAM and storage are quadrupling, and not necessarily stopping there.โ
He expects the shortage of gaming-related hardware to continue for the next three years
@David_lCastro @PezRadar I get it. However, RNG on top of RNG on top of RNG just isn't fun... You can grind and grind for that great piece of gear and brick it just like that. There is already enough grind in the game. There has to be a better way to implement it.
@TimORei53604008@JoeShely @Diablo4Newz Not sure it's just the season 3 team. Feels like the whole game needs fresh eyes, thoughts and ideas. All they have done is released crap upon crap. Not listening to their community and no PTR. Blizzard is nothing like what they used to be.
@So12rovv@RodFergusson@JoeShely@JPiepiora@PezRadar The thing is if they don't have a major announcement to fix what they have done AND add some QoL fixes this game is dead at least through S1. Just my thoughts.
Not my work, however had to share this is amazing!
