La Dirección de Inteligencia identificó que la cadena de mando de la Fuerza Aérea de los Cuerpos de la Guardia Revolucionaria Islámica se había reunido en un centro de mando subterráneo para preparar un ataque contra el Estado de Israel.

Aviones de combate de la FAI alcanzaron el centro de mando donde se encontraba el Comandante de la Fuerza Aérea de los CGRI, Amir Ali Hajizadeh, junto a otros altos oficiales.
