More people have discovered my Ph.D research on twitter than anywhere else.
Here are 6 threads summarizing my dissertation, "The Invention of Palestine", a study of origins and development of 'Palestine' and 'the Palestinians' from ancient times to the present, a 🧵
Kerala has become a graveyard for the LGBTQIA+ community. Several queer members have lost their lives due to homophobia, including Praveen Nath, a young trans man and Mister Kerala, who committed suicide today after experiencing cyber bullying.
Yesterday, an organization called "Yes Kerala" was formed to spread homophobia across the state. They shamelessly announced their stance against homosexuals. It's appalling that such an organization could be registered under the Kerala government, which has policies in place to protect the LGBTQIA+ community.
I urge human rights activists and media representatives across the globe to address this critical situation in Kerala.

The silence from other celebrity sportspersons- esp India's cricket demigods- is deafening.
Imagine a world in which @sachin_rt
had the moral fibre to stand in solidarity.
Or imagine the outpouring of solidarity if Sachin was sitting on the streets...

Today, IPCW's fest was going when drunk men climbed the walls, forcefully entered the campus and harrassed Gender minorities.
Men were chanting "Miranda IP dono hamara" ,"Miranda nahi chhoda to IP bhi nahi chhodenge"

Intellectuals give people who have the handicap of poverty the further handicap of a sense of victimhood. They have encouraged the poor to believe that their poverty is caused by the rich—a message which may be a passing annoyance to the rich but a lasting handicap to the poor, who may see less need to make fundamental changes in their own lives that could lift themselves up, instead of focusing their efforts on dragging others down. The intelligentsia have acted as if their ignorance of why some people earn unusually high incomes is a reason why those incomes are either suspect or ought not to be permitted.
Intellectuals have—on issues ranging across the spectrum from housing policies to laws governing organ transplants—sought to have decision-making discretion taken from those directly involved, who have personal knowledge and a personal stake, and transferred to third parties who have neither, and who pay no price for being wrong.
Yet they fight, fight not just for themselves but for generations to come for necessities that come naturally to us. These Matriarchs are the real change makers.
Let no history forget their sacrifices, Let no politics play with their plight, for they have bled enough!

Trapped between a web of oppressive Ajalu practices which allow for the transfer of sins to the community through rape, and being forced to eat food mixed with nails and hair of the UC’s, as against Copper Ts being inserted without their consent, they’ve seen it all!
