I had an argument with a Chelsea fan 30 minutes ago, told him Carreras was better than Cucurella and he was busily defending Cucurella, we both didn’t even know Cucurella was my player now and not even his, let me go and meet him again and retract my statement 😂😂😂
Dude he literally running New York like the average joe in a movie who gets elected into office as a gag and then fixes everything simply because he is not a politician and an earnest regular guy.
Brazil became finished the moment they stopped producing players with proper Brazilian football names.
I grew up watching Bebeto, Romário, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robinho…
Now I’m seeing Gabriel Magalhães, Ibáñez, Martinelli and Santos. The names alone don’t inspire fear.
This is not Brazil!!!!!
This might sound crazy, but since this World Cup started, none of the teams have convinced me. Morocco vs Brazil was the first truly high-intensity game, and honestly, I think a fully fit current Super Eagles team would either beat both of them or at worst come away with a draw.
🚨 Joint-statement from Cape Verde, Curaçao, Uzbekistan, Congo, Haiti, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt, Ghana, Senegal, South Africa and Côte d’Ivoire expressing their “profound disappointment” following the recent comments made by UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin arguing the expanded World Cup will create “uninteresting” games.
“We respectfully but firmly reject these comments.
“For our countries, there is no such thing as an unimportant World Cup match.
“For Cape Verde, Curaçao and Uzbekistan, qualification for the FIFA World Cup represents a historic achievement and the realization of a dream shared by generations.
“For nations such as Congo and Haiti, returning to football’s biggest stage after a long absence carries a special meaning for millions of supporters who have waited years, and in some cases decades, for this moment.
“To suggest that these matches are somehow less important is deeply disappointing and fails to recognize the efforts, sacrifices and aspirations of players, coaches, clubs, football leaders and supporters across the world.
“Behind every qualification stand years of work and investment. Behind every national team stand entire communities and millions of people who see football as a source of pride, hope and unity.
“Football does not belong to a select group of nations. Its strength comes from its universality. The FIFA World Cup is the world’s greatest football competition precisely because it brings together different cultures, different histories and different football journeys.
“For many countries, participation in the FIFA World Cup is not only a sporting achievement. It is a moment that inspires a generation, accelerates football development and creates memories that last a lifetime.
“We believe that every nation that qualifies deserves respect. Every team has earned its place on merit. Every supporter has the right to dream. Every match carries meaning for millions of people around the world.
“We therefore reject the UEFA President’s comments and reaffirm our belief that the growth of football must continue to create opportunities, inspire new generations and strengthen the truly global nature of our game.
“Every team qualified on merit.
“Every match matters.”
“He’s a miracle working God 2x
He’s the alpha and omega
He’s a miracle working God”
“All we are sayingggggggg
Give us one goal”
Is those chants a joke to you? 😂
That’s our national football chant
Playing against West African teams is always different.
At their peak, this is how North African teams play (Morocco & Algeria in particular. Egypt. Sometimes even Tunisia).
They play smooth football when in form.
But West Africans have a way of frustrating them.
They were unlikely to dominate Senegal or Cote d'Ivoire or Nigeria like that. Even South Africa beat them in 2023 AFCON after their Qatar 2022 heroics.
I remember when Mike Brown was appointed head coach of Nigeria’s men’s national team ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
He led the team through Olympic preparation and the Famous exhibition win over Team USA before Tokyo 2020
After the Olympics, Brown publicly said he wanted to continue with the program and help build Nigerian basketball long term.
But in 2022, Nigerian basketball was disrupted by governance disputes inside the Nigeria Basketball Federation and the Nigerian government temporarily withdrew national teams from international competition. That created uncertainty around the program and disrupted continuity.
Today, he is a NBA champion as the coach of the New York knicks
