No place for Reform in Ealing! Great to see my dear friend @RabiaNasimi elected as the councillor for East Acton. Councillors are a bridge between residents and the local authority, helping residents with local issues, and setting community priorities. Wishing Rabia all the best!
Religious groups remain unprotected under Taliban rule.
In Herat, after a deadly attack that killed 13 Shia civilians, Taliban've warned against protests and refused to ensure their security. They don’t provide safety and don’t hold anyone accountable for the attack.
Today marks the start of the new school year in Afghanistan. For the fifth year in a row, girls above grade 6 remain banned from education under the Taliban.
Education is a fundamental right and it must be protected for everyone.

Britain cannot become another US, where racist comments and the humiliation of communities are tolerated and normalised. This goes against everything British culture and values stand for.
Ps: Restore and Reform competing in the decline of decency!
And yet the UK government has banned issuing student visas to students from Afghanistan. Many candidates who were shortlisted for the Chevening award have seen their hopes and hard work shattered after their interviews were cancelled.
"This will be the 5th year that the girls will not be able to go to school."
On the sidelines of #CSW, UK Special Envoy for Women and Girls @HarrietHarman sits down with Afghan civil society leader @NehanNargis to discuss the urgent situation facing Afghan women and girls.
At least 400 people were killed in an airstrike by Pakistan on a rehabilitation hospital in Kabul. Targeting civilian areas is a war crime under international law. How can the world ignore this atrocity?
At least 400 people were killed and 250 injured in an air strike by Pakistan on a drug users rehabilitation hospital in the Afghanistan capital Kabul, a spokesman of the Afghan Taliban government said https://t.co/vlllKi2E5n
After last night’s Pakistani attack on Kabul, misinformation is circulating on an industrial scale. For example, a picture of a group of addicts shared by Mr. Mujahed, claiming that they were “mostly killed,” is actually from April 5, 2023. The image was originally posted by the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior on its X account.
It is difficult to believe that these exact individuals were still being treated in the hospital and are the same people supposedly killed in last night’s bombing.
I call on the Taliban to allow independent media to investigate this tragedy and document details of all civilian casualties.
What is the point of saying we “stand with the women of Afghanistan” while banning them from getting study visa's to the UK?
Even students who won the @CheveningFCDO, one of the most competitive scholarships in the world. And now @ShabanaMahmood says no, all cancelled.
what it described as “abuse” of the asylum system. While stats suggest that Pakistan was the top nationality for asylum claims in the UK in 2025, yet it is not included in the list for which Shabana M was challenged by a journalist, raising speculation about potential bias. 2/2
Shabana Mahmood has refused to exempt exceptional students (Chevening scholars) from tougher immigration rules. Last week the Home Office announced a ban on issuing study visas to nationals of Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar and Sudan to prevent…1/2

#InternationalWomensDay is a reminder of the severe human rights violations faced by women & girls in Afghanistan. Millions’ve been erased from public life & confined to their homes. The world must not normalise this situation & must stand by their side through concrete action.
@SkyYaldaHakim is a testament to insightful, professional journalism and an inspiration to many women. Given the current hostile times, her work reminds us of the invaluable contributions people with a migration background make. I had the privilege of appearing on her show.
UK based rights group has launched an interactive map documenting human rights abuses & violence against civilians since the Taliban seized power in Afghanistan "we use open source intelligence to verify these claims" Meera Qutb from Centre for Information Resilience
Disappointing!
The UK gov has stopped student visas for Afghan nationals and 3 other countries and has halted the @CheveningFCDO award process midway. The Home Secretary took this action to prevent visa “abuse” & reduce asylum claims. Seeking asylum is a fundamental human right!
