Good mernin and happy Friday to my early risers, night owls, insomniacs, and neurospicy besties. Anyone else feel like these dog days of summer feel a little more doggy than usual? 😆 - like wake me up at 5am, slobber all over my face, take a le dookey on the le carpet, and then just stare at me waiting for a treat, because I was a "good boy" and didn't le dookey in the bedroom yesterday mernin where I stepped in it at 4am with one bloodshot eye open stumbling to the bathroom because my bladder now wakes me up before the dog does. It's fine. We're fine. I'm fine. Everything is fine.

Anyhoodles, today's short and sweet, because I need wine and coffee to deal with this craptastical piece of good news I'm gonna give you.

Hot. Not like Liam Hemsworth in a speedo hot. Like Borat in a banana hammock hot.

Highs will be well into the 90s, low triple digits at times on the eastern plains through the end of July and going into the first part of August.

Let's focus on today.

Scattered afternoon and evening storms as we get a little monsoonal push from the west and southwest.

Scattered clouds and a few rain showers/rumbles of thunder ongoing along and west of the continental divide and onto the western slope.

By NOON, scattered storms develop in the mountains and foothills. A few will move off the foothills and onto the I-25 corridor and eastern plains.

Main hazards: gusty winds, and microbursts, abundant lightning, and unfortunately the threat for new fire starts because of dry fuels, and said abundant lightning.

Storms will behave erratically. Outflow boundary winds will be erratic as well causing storms to develop at random like popcorn where there is enough forcing. So, be mindful of rapidly changing weather conditions if you're spending time outdoors today. You might end up with a gift from the neighbors. 😜

Sunday is dry and hot and windy. Which means more fire danger probably returns again. I'll issue a don't be a dumb dumb alert that day too as a reminder to not be a dumb dumb.

Hot and gross going into next week.
