i have cried so many times in genshin i've lost count, but ones that will always stick with me are:

• reading about how the sunchildren were scapegoated and sacrificed
• xiao using the last of his powers to save the group from the domain in an attempt to sacrifice himself
• karkata attempting to "repair" abattouy
• raju taking his own life after academic pressure and bullying in the akademiya
• the end of the aranara questline
• the traveler dreaming of their sibling while using xianyun's somnium machine only to wake up in tears
• focalors' execution / neuvillette absolving fontaine of their "sin"
• learning the truth about bennett's family
• rerir crossing out the names of targets he killed
• varka returning home to mondstadt underneath windrise

... and so many more moments.

i'm not ashamed to say that i've been incredibly emotional about this game.
