Eugh. That one rose my blood pressure lol. Hang gliding has always sounded risky, but that definitely made it seem even less appealing with the lack of communication while hooked up.
The hang gliding one is mortifying. I don’t understand why there isn’t a method to communicate to the hang gliders from the boat for emergencies. The girls are screaming a lot but they have plenty of reason to be scared. The sound of them hitting the water will draw curiosity.
When they started coughing and retching my heart broke, they were scared for their lives and those idiots on the boat were ignoring them and dismissing them bc they assumed they were being dramatic. Didn’t escape me that they were all middle aged men rolling their eyes either.
Sharks don’t see us as food, but they are opportunistic and they will try anything once. And they can get frustrated or curious, or are just hungry enough to try a go at the divers. Any tourist attraction that feeds sharks is an incident waiting to happen
The #CaughtSharksStrikeBack incidents are interesting, but it always baffles me when they show shark attacks where it’s those ‘shark tours’ where they train sharks to associate divers with food, and it’s somehow shocking when the shark bites a diver in that environment.
It just feels like especially this year Discovery has been pushing “harassing wildlife” as its focal point. It’s like they’re using the Ocean Ramsey playbook (and Forrest Galante) and just sticking our hands in wild predator’s faces and pretending this is science or data.
I do not know about this “Surviving Jaws” special… it looks like it’s greatly jeopardizing both the sharks and the humans. “Blowfish” getting knocked out, being in the water w electricity, and just generally some incredibly dangerous amd risky behavior #SharkWeek2025
Justice and Aid for Palestine. They will be free. When we said Never Again, we meant it for everyone. Those aiding the genocide and apartheid from Israel have blood on your hands, and you share a bed with nazis and white supremacists. You will not break us.
@Curly_Biologist I started taking probiotics all the time after COVID and even that doesn’t keep some of the episodes away, it really sucks. I don’t know if there’s any prescribed meds that might help, but I hope doctor’s start to figure it out.
The upcoming Discovery TV @sharkweek show, “Cocaine Sharks,” has already caught the attention of audiences thanks to its provocative title. But is there any truth to it? Let's talk about it. https://t.co/yM37oAyQu1 #sharks
…huh. Why didn’t #SharkWeek rerun the day’s specials like they usually do? I was looking forward to catching what I missed of the Mako Shark special. They’re rerunning a Deep Blue special. Not that I mind seeing her again, but it’s a little disappointing to miss it.
Great Hammerheads are my mom’s favorite shark, it made it extra fun to see some of the massive animals that showed up in this special! There was lots of ‘oooh’ing and ‘aaah’ing, hahah. Such gorgeous fish!!
