@slphouston@blewistexas I don’t understand why people think poor people will be able to afford a private school with vouchers. I live in a small town where the average private school tuition per semester is $10k. Give poor parents a $3k voucher (I’m being generous). Where is the other $7k coming from?
@Daniel_Greer@KaraQBell And, last post 🤓, since I’ve been in one for over 33 years, I should know. Two reasons to join: the liability insurance and the lawyers/law advice.
@Daniel_Greer@KaraQBell A union is an organization formed by workers who join together and use their strength to have a voice in their workplace. (Workers)…(can)…negotiate from a position of strength…over wages, benefits, workplace health and safety, job training and other work-related issues.
@Daniel_Greer@KaraQBell That’s called an interest group. If you live in Texas, you know that it’s a right to work state. No unions. All the interest groups are able to do is lobby the legislature, provide advice and insurance for the members, and encourage their members to vote a certain way.
@Daniel_Greer@KaraQBell This is a union in name only. They have no bargaining power to affect what TEA and the state do in public schools. Texas has no unions.
@kennmangum@notnewtome@BehizyTweets Everyone seems to think the US could go it alone as far as the economy is concerned. I’m still waiting for someone to show me a modern country that runs their economy that way. Resources are scarce. Countries specialize in what they’re good at and trade for the rest.
@kennmangum@notnewtome@BehizyTweets If we’re not buying from Asia, why would they buy from us? Trump has threatened them with higher tariffs than Canada or Mexico. And 2nd, cut taxes under the president who single handily raised the debt by 7 trillion?
@stennislewis@melfeelswaggish@BehizyTweets It’s the biggest economy in the world because of our trade with other countries. This stupid belief that the US will be just fine on its own shows a lack of knowledge about how economies work.
@CabbagesHusband @AVGuyCaleb Because school vouchers doesn’t help underprivileged kids. I’ve been told that all the private schools in my area intend on raising tuition at their schools by at least 2-3 thousand. If vouchers pass. Therefore, tuition will still be out of reach.
@Ho_Chi_Hussein@5280KN@caitycat9319@DerrickEvans4WV 2nd the reason the US no longer produces the products that Mexico produces is it was deemed cheaper and faster by American companies to outsource it to other countries. Show me a successful economy that makes everything for itself nowadays.
@iamcojo04 @LaPrincesaMX @MadisonRaeGun@esjesjesj How does everything get cheaper? If we do everything for ourselves, everything becomes more expensive because we have that pesky minimum wage law, laws about how factories can be built, plus all the business regulations. How does that equate to cheaper stuff?
