There's a few roadblocks that hinder closer cooperation 🧵

- Loss of culture, which could be fixed by keeping Europe as separate states, yet with very close cooperation.

- Not being able to vote directly the EU commission, something @nielsandriesse wrote about. ( Linked under this post ) but TLDR:

- The EU's indirect democracy was adequate when it was primarily a trade union with less direct impact on citizens' lives.

- Signal Loss: Multiple layers of representation dilute voters' preferences, leading to significant misalignment with elected officials.

- Disconnect: The EU Commission President isn't directly elected, fostering a sense of imposition and resentment among citizens.
