Today we celebrate the 79th anniversary of the ratification of the @UN Charter. I wish to emphasize that 🇲🇪 remains a committed partner of🇺🇳 and its efforts for strengthening of international peace and security, human rights and fulfillment of SDGs.

Today marks the tragic anniversary of the Hamas terorrist attack on Israel, which caused horrible humanitarian consequences. It is our duty to remember the lives lost 1 year ago and to continue to call for the release of all hostages, as well as to insist on an immediate ceasefire and an end to all hostilities. Working towards the two-state solution, that guarantuees the security of both Israelis and Palestinians, is of essential importance for reaching the lasting peace and stability of the whole region.

Thanks to 🇸🇮 for organizing the "Leadership for Peace" discussion at the UN Security Council. On behalf of 🇲🇪, I noted that the rising number of conflicts presents a serious challenge to multilateralism, and reiterated that the respect for UN Charter is a way towards a more just and democratic world order. I also appealed to permanent SC member states to refrain from using their veto right when deciding on proposals that can prevent or stop conflicts.
