I've talked about this many times, but this is not wrong simply because of ethnic reasons. That's not even the primary issue. The primary issue is that gods are spiritual beings. They are not psychological mascots. Poseidon is some sort of spirit. He is not depicted as classically strong because you need to look at something to be strong, but rather he is depicted as classically strong because that shows the kind of spirit he is. He is the kind of spirit who both provides travel and a living and beats men to death viciously with waves. It's not about you being or not being strong; it's about the sea being a sovereign spiritual power over men. Everybody should look at images of Pan or other not hypermasculine gods to understand this: Pan Is a strange little horny half goat half man god? Why? Because the spiritual powers of of the kind of wilderness just adjacent to shepherds and pastures are like that. And indeed you are, in fact, subject to the spiritual power of the sea or the pastoral wilderness according to the Greeks, which is certainly true.

The image given of Thor above is not even a religious image but a romantic image with no actual spiritual value; but in that case, also, a man is subject to the sovereign spiritual power of thunder and the sky and the power over combat, etc. Again, it's not about you being so strong, but that the spirits over the things you are involved in are so superior to anything you're doing that you had better give them honor or else risk offending them.

Not even spiritual. Atheism. Blasphemous. Blasphemous even to your ancestors. Nobody sacrificed in blood and war to your workout inspiration, you child. You are honoring your ancestors? No, you aren't. You make fools out of them. If I want to learn how to get large and hit a man with a hammer, I find a man who is large and can swing a hammer and have him teach me the ways. I do not make up stories and romantic paintings of such a man and say that he is a spirit lord over the earth, etc. Such a thing is not even worth sending a missionary to combat. Such little boys need testosterone therapy and a few dozen father figures in their lives. You and I have nothing religiously to do with one another except to the extent that you confuse souls who need actual spiritual lives.
