As people of color are more likely to be impacted by student loans and other financial hardships, #studentloanforgiveness is intrinsically tied to the recruitment & retention of teachers of color. #TeachPlusDiversity
Student loans have financially crippled three generations. Educators who give their life to public service shouldn't have to spend it paying off student loans. #teachplusdiversity
A6: Districts and unions must work collaboratively to diversify our workforce. We need more than one or two faces as a token to give the visual of diversity. Hiring staff of color will drive the change needed to dismantle institutional racism.

Amherst is one of the most successful in hiring of educators of color. It started with a diverse school committee years ago w/SJ warriors Vera Cage, Dr. Almicar Shabbazz, and SC chair Dr. Trevor Baptiste. They hired an Assistant Superintendent of DEI and HR.
