The Federal Court has today ruled that Australian citizen Dan Duggan will be extradited to the United States, where he faces up to 65 years in prison for conduct that wasn’t even an offence under Australian law. It's deeply distressing news for so many.

According to @abcnews - a delegation of United Nations inspectors has delivered a scathing assessment of Australia's treatment of prisoners and other detainees, following a 12-day visit to the country.

The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (WGAD) Chair, Ukrainian lawyer and former European Human Rights court judge Dr Ganna Yudkivska, said that the 42 per cent of prisoners that were unsentenced in Australian prisons meant almost half of the country's prison population was "legally innocent".

"Bail laws have been repeatedly tightened, often because of what we see as populist reactions to some headlines in media about high-profile crimes rather than based on evidence," she said.

Dan Duggan has been locked up since October 21, 2022, facing no Australian charges. He spent over 19 months in solitary confinement, a breach of United Nations rules and considered to be torture.

With 20 days until the Federal Court challenge, we need to raise as much money as we can to help the Duggan's beat this ridiculous charge and bring Dan home.
Lawyer fees-for here and the US, travel costs, phone call costs, rates on a seized home; money is flying out the door with not much coming back in. We need $300k by next month and we are not even halfway to getting that. This has been one big expensive, long-drawn out, unnecessary circus. An alliance spelled out in karaoke capitals,
Allies United Kindly Undermining Security.

A is for Aspirations (or American Approval—take your pick),
where submarines are submarined beneath rising debt
and Canberra dreams of stealth, while potholes bloom
on neglected highways back home.

U stands for "Uncertain," but let’s say "Underwater"—
as in the billions sinking, plankton-rich,
into nuclear-lit oceans.
Uncle Sam grins, pockets jingling;
underneath the Southern Cross,
uniformed photo ops multiply
like trilogies in a bad franchise.

K is a silent knot in our stomachs—
or perhaps "Kung-fu Posture":
Karate-chopping diplomatic ties with neighbours,
Kicking up kelp in the South Pacific,
