Young people should never need to wonder about essentials like food or safe shelter.
The Federal Government can dramatically reduce child and youth homelessness - if it wants to.

We were delighted to welcome @VickiWardMP, Minister for Prevention of Family Violence and @NatalieSuleyman, Minister for Youth, to Frontyard Youth Services to discuss the urgent safety needs of Victorian children and young people escaping family violence, in their own right.
With so much happening over the course of Homelessness Week, we were thrilled to host the Victorian Housing Minister, Hon. Harriet Shing, for a conversation with MCM's Lived Experience Advisor Group members.
At MCM, we see firsthand the profound challenges faced by young people accessing our homelessness programs. Our goal is to raise awareness and advocate for sustainable, long-term solutions. We'd like to thank the Hon. Natalie Suleyman for listening to us during Homelessness Week.

🚨 A much needed call to action:
Australian Children’s Commissioners, guardians & advocates are calling on the Australian Government to make the Leaving Violence Payment available to young people under 18.
Every year, almost 40,000 Australian young people aged 15 to 24 years old seek help from homelessness services on their own, most of them escaping violent homes. These young people must have access to financial support when escaping family violence.
Too often, children & young people have been the invisible victims of family violence, with their needs overlooked in government initiatives and service responses. The letter urges the Australian Government to ensure young people are not excluded from accessing this vital support.
